Grail Ticket Holder

For the first time in my life, I was worried about my safety over shoes...

I was contacted by my friend Carl to see if I wanted to go to the mall early with him for these new Adidas release called Ultra Boost "Triple Black". Apparently the anticipation of this drop has been going on for quiet awhile now. I was clueless until we were lined up and chatting with other fellow shoe heads. Honestly, I really just wanted to look for a perfect pair of comfortable all black shoes to wear for some big plans I have in early 2017, so this was perfect. I didn't even know they were limited until Carl told me about them. The line started getting long by around 9:20am, 40 minutes before the mall was even opened. There was about 40~50 people lined up, until the manager of Footlocker started giving out tickets for whatever that was available in their store, which was ONLY 10 pairs of Ultra Boosts. I got number 2, Carl and our other friend Cid got number 3 & 4, then the manager sent the disappointed 90% of line with the unfortunate news that only people who received a number will be able to buy the shoes. At this point, we thought all we had to do was wait until 10:00am, we buy the shoes, celebrate our buys with some dim sum in China Town, then head home and enjoy the rest of our days...

I was wrong.............

First, we all got kicked out of the mall because the line was slowly getting out of control, so since we saw that it was only 9:30am, we'd just go to the cafe downstairs and wait until the store opens. Which we did, hung out and chat until 9:50am when we went back up... in front of Footlocker there was double amount of people and securities are starting to ask people to leave.. We circled around a few times and waited until 10:00am, arrived in front of the store along with all the people and the manager asked for whoever that holds a ticket, come on in. So, the 10 of us went inside the store and then the manager closed the door behind us.

We started chatting, and just wait for them to bring the shoes out, however, 20 minutes later, I then looked at the door, there was anger screaming from there, and I realized there was two police officers at the front of the store trying to tell people to back off. The manager and SFPD was trying to figure out the situations of why there's hundreds of upset people in front of a closed store while the mall was already opened. Then the SFPD came up with a solution:
"Just sell them the shoes and tell the rest of the people there is no more!"

10 minutes later, we were finally able to purchase the shoes. After we bought them, the first person in line told us that we shouldn't go out, and to be careful. We waited for everyone to wrap up their transactions, and at this time the store's door was still closed, I saw a group of kids pointing at me constantly, and talking amounts themselves. One of the ten winners told me to watch out because I was "marked". To be honest, at this point I was like whatever happen happens, I honestly haven't used my WuShu skills for over a decade and I also got my boys with me...
the SFPD suggested we all exit together through the back door of the store. Angry screams are still going on outside the store. While we waited, I even tried on the new ultra boosts and did a short round inside Footlocker haha. The manager had to make a corporate call to get the "okay" that we are allowed to exit through the back, so we all did.. Before we all split, I decided to take Carl and Cid to my work place to get a different bag so we don't get jacked on the way home. Now to think about it, my work bag wasn't the most discrete bags to use either... HA! Anyway, long story short, I made it home alive and had an epic day with my roommate, which will be a separate post coming up soon!

People used to get shot for Jordans back in the days, I feel like that level of crave over shoes is starting to return. All and all, it was a successful day with me and my party. Thanks to Carl for dragging me out of my bed for these! Because they definitely feels AMAZING!
